How to Stop Your Leader from Sticking to Your Rod in the Rain.

How to Stop Your Leader from Sticking to Your Rod in the Rain.

We've received several questions recently about thin micro leaders sticking to the rod blank when wet. This is an extremely annoying phenomenon when it occurs, and just a little sprinkle of rain can suddenly make casting properly exasperating.

I first learned this trick while fishing with Julien Daguillanes (2016 and 2022 individual world champion) in Colorado back in 2018. When the weather turned rainy for the duration of this year's world championships in Asturias, Spain, our guide and friend Pablo Castro Pinos demonstrated how he wraps his rod with tippet to break the adhesion between the leader and rod blank in wet weather.

In this video, we walk through this quick, easy, and inexpensive solution for how to fix the issue of leader stick and keep on fishing during wet weather.
